it’s not so bad

The following is a free-form poem I wrote in high school which I found whilst cleaning my room the other day. I thought it merited saving.

It’s not so bad —
Being in love.

The butterflies that come
With the thought
Of that someone
Can lift even the lowest of souls
And their face
In your mind
Can make even the hardest days more bearable.
When they speak,
You memorize each word
And recite them to yourself
Before you go to sleep,
And every look from them
Kindles that fire
Sparking a glimmer of hope
That there is a chance
That they could one day love you back.

No, it’s not so bad —
Being in love.

Nah, that one’s my cute quirk of pretending to be proper by using archaic words, most times incorrectly. As if any of my Aussie friends use proper grammar. Phaw!
